Project Director- John Locke MEd Admin, BSc, DipTchg is the former Principal of Kaitaia and Okaihau Colleges in the Far North. Whilst at Okaihau John was the establishment director of FarNet, a virtual school serving the ten far north Secondary and Area schools.  In 2002 he was appointed as the Foundation Principal of Alfriston College in Manurewa.  John has been the recipient of a Woolf Fisher Study award and has presented widely at conferences in New Zealand and overseas.  John has a particular interest in the practicalities of creating effective learning environments.

Academic Director -Professor Viviane Robinson PhD (Harvard), MA (Hons), is a Professor of Education at The University of Auckland specialising in organisational studies, leadership and research methodology.  She has published extensively both nationally and internationally. Professor Robinson co-ordinates the graduate programme in educational management for the Faculty of Education and currently is co-researcher for the Best Evidence Synthesis-Educational Leadership project.

Strategic Director- David Eddy MEdMgt (Hons), MA (Hons), Dip Tchg is the former Principal of Glendowie College (Auckland) and Director of the First-time Principals Programme from its inception in 2002 until 2007. He is currently Executive Director of The University of Auckland Centre for Educational Leadership, member of the advisory groups of The University of Auckland School Leadership Centre, the Microsoft Partners in Learning Project, and the Best Evidence Synthesis (BES) Educational Leadership Project. For services to education he has received the UNICEF Award (Italy), the Prince of Wales Medallion, a Woolf Fisher Fellowship, an Auckland Citizens Award and Honorary Life Membership of The University of Auckland School Leadership Centre

Associate Director- Jacqui Patuawa TTC, Grad Dip Ed Lead (Distinction), M Ed Leadership (First Class Hons) is the Associate Director of the First-time Principals Programme. Jacqui has been involved with the First-time Principals Programme as a mentor and later as a Lead mentor since 2005. Jacqui is on secondment from her position as Principal of Welcome Bay Primary School. Jacqui has had two other principalships, her first in Te Karaka (Gisborne) and her second at Firth Primary School (Matamata). Jacqui has been a trained facilitator at the Principal Development Planning Centre. While in this role she further took on responsibility for facilitator training and programme review and design. During 2006, Jacqui was also seconded to the Leadership and Management Team based at Waikato University. She has also acted as a Principal Consultant for the Educational Leadership Centre based at Waikato University. During 2006 Jacqui was selected as one of five New Zealand Principals to attend an invitation only conference in Beijiing China. Jacqui began her teaching career in Mount Maunganui and has taught in both rural and city schools.

Project Coordinator – Yohei Guy studied at the University of Waikato, graduating with a BA(Hons) majoring in Screen and Media Studies.  His employment record includes a background in Retail Management as well as Corporate and Conference Video Production.  He has represented clients such as Starbucks Coffee, Youthline NZ and the fashion label Stitch Ministry.  Yohei hopes to be able to bring these skill-sets to the position in a way that will benefit the first-time principals programme.

Project Assistant -

Donna Kerkmeester recently studied at AUT University graduating with a Diploma in Event Management. Prior to this Donna's background was mainly PA/Administration. This included work at Guiness and ITN in the UK. She has also worked at Western Springs College, CYPFS and Mirage Films in NZ. Donna is ABTA qualified (British Airways Travel Certification). Her role with the First-time Principals Programme will be combined with her role as Project Adminstrator on the Educational Leadership Project. d.kerkmeester@auckland.ac.nz

Research Assistant

Jane Park obtained an MSc (Distinction) in Organisational Psychology from the University of Manchester and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Auckland. She is an honorary research fellow at the Psychology Department, University of Auckland. Prior to this position, Jane worked as a visiting research fellow at Manchester Business School, and has held teaching and research assistant positions at the University of Auckland. Her research interests include leadership, emotions at work, and personnel selection.
